Through my continual search for inspiration and my addiction to blog hopping, I have seen many different lovely home made cake plates from different blogs. I have loved them and have wanted to make my own for a while. I finally took a trip down to the good old Utah DI and picked up a few things. I get a little excited for the projects I am doing and always forget to take a before picture of everything...so instead you get a before they were painted, while the glue was still drying pic!! :)
Here is the first one, upside down (glue is drying) I loved this plate! It was so springy I could not resist and the bottom is a ceramic candle holder.
Although I actually liked the candle holder or what ever it was with the hand painted flowers and bees, it just does not fit anything that I would use it for, but it was perfect for a taller cake stand!
And here is my springy cake stand next to my tulips from the backyard!
And the taller one, I spray painted black for a cohesive look.
And the two together! I love them!!

Brody even loved the fondant! He tore up the basketball hoop...almost ate the whole thing!
Same with the cake! It must have been good because Broday usually never eats cake! :)
All of the furniture in my bedroom is black, so I went with the black theme again! I liked the idea of adding fabric to the glass and went with a deep red to match the red accents in my bedroom. I also had a little burlap flower in my stash and added that and a pearl to the front for a little girly-flare!
